Three bladesmiths from Germany and Austria launched Klinger für Gutes “Blades for Good” in 2024 alongside the “The Knife 2024 Solingen” show, raising funds for the Dortmund Germany based charity Kinderlachen e.V. For the raffle, 20 top knife makers from around the world each forged a chef’s knife, from mono steel. While the blade shape and profile were set, the finish, handle shape, and handle materials were left open, so every maker could bring their own signature style.

The 2024 raffle raised an impressive €18,240. The momentum was immediate, and the decision was clear: “We’ll do it again in 2025, and we’ll double the result,” said Mehrshad Taghinejad, Managing Director of Shirknives and one of the organizers behind Klingen für Gutes “Blades for Good.”

In 2025, the campaign returned with even more internationally renowned makers on board, giving them full freedom to unleash their creativity once again. And even though the “The Knife 2025” show itself was cancelled, the fundraiser became a huge success.

Not only was the 2025 goal reached, it was surpassed by a wide margin. In the second raffle, the knife community went all in for a chance to win one of 22 highly sought after handcrafted pieces. Viewers were able to follow the live draw on Instagram. By the end, the campaign had raised an incredible €42,160, far exceeding all expectations.

“Blades for Good is a truly special fundraiser, and one that’s unique for Kinderlachen,” the charity said. “It brings together passion and traditional craftsmanship. We’re deeply grateful to the bladesmith's and the knife community who supported the project so generously to secure one of these fascinating one of a kind knives.”

DONATION CAMPAIGN: Klingen für Gutes "Blades for good"

€42,160 RAISED

In this year’s “Blades for Good” fundraising campaign, 22 knifemakers took part and donated a knife. The charitable initiative was founded by Keith Colby (knifematerial.at), Ben Halbauer (Alb Knives), Tim Kögler (Spira Knives), and Merschad Taghinejad (Shir Knives). This year had an artistic focus: Ben Kamon generously provided his iconic High Chef Knife design. Based on this, 22 knifemakers created their own interpretations: Neil Ayling, Sam Dunn, Andreas Fellner & Albert Anglberger, Geoff Feder, Christoph Feichtl, Fingal Ferguson, Gabe Fletcher, Erik Gullikson, Tobias Hangler, Timo Hardent, Tobias Heldqvist, Martin Huber, Jonas Johnsson, Benjamin Kamon, Antoine Kniamen, Jerome Knippenberg, Oliver Märtens, Simon Maillet, Merschad Taghinejad, and Derrick Wulf.

The raffle then raised a total of €42,160 for the charity Kinderlachen e.V. Keith Colby said: “When makers, collectors, and supporters come together with the same goal, that energy becomes action. Real change happens right here, one blade, one maker, and one act of kindness at a time.”
